Backup Exec 2012

Firstly, I just want to say Backup Exec 2012 looks totally hideous….

Had this annoying error last few days:

VSS Snapshot warning. File c:\users\admini~1\appdata\local\temp\portable_install_00000000\windows_64\image\pmc\bin\aendaemon.exe is not present on the snapshot.

Turns out BE was trying to backup the file above which doesn’t exist any more…but not back it up from a selection list rather it was trying to backup a service as part of the System State backup!

The service is called AenService and was created by IBM Update manager.

Now since the service can’t start as the file is missing and the service being stopped hasn’t broken anything, I deleted the service:

sc delete aenservice

If your more interested in fixing the service then please carry on and let me know what you did!!

For me job fixored!!

  • Hello. I am part of the BE Product Mgmt team. When you open with “Backup Exec 2012 looks totally hideous” I understand that there may be things that you don’t like about it, but without detail, I can’t go to the planning team and engineering with suggestions. Follow me on Twitter & I will DM you my contact information so we can talk further about this. Curious to hear your input.
